I designed the characters which formed the backbone of this years Promax conference identity for Knifedge:


We knew the conference theme was going to be something to do with the so-called digital revolution so I played around with ideas and inspiration from Paperrad, Vivienne Westwood, Barbara Kruger and Sheperd Fairey, but in the end it was all a bit too abstruse to have the necessary instant impact. The first step in the right direction was to give in to the obvious and use iconic revolutionary figureheads - Che Guevara, Lenin and Mao. I had fun making Banksy-esque spray stencils of these guys proclaiming the digital revolution with iPads and 3D specs.
Jon was adamant that more irreverent humour was the way to go. So I changed the look to something more from Warhol and Terry Gilliam, which I thought would animate more expressively and have more stylistic integrity with the scripts that were being developed. The Knifedge team then went on to design the website and marketing materials, and animate a series of short films based on the characters, including this fantastically camp opener:
